there is / there are: Was ist da?

Mit there is und there are sagst du, was es an einem Ort gibt. Verwende there is vor einem einzelnen zählbaren Nomen (a table) oder einem nicht zählbaren Nomen (tea). Vor einem Nomen im Plural steht there are (boxes). There’s ist die Kurzform von there is. Antworte kurz mit Yes, there is. / No, there isn’t. oder Yes, there are. / No, there aren’t. In der bejahenden Kurzantwort heißt es Yes, there is., nicht Yes, there’s.

there isn't / there aren't: Was fehlt?

Mit not bildest du die Verneinung: there is not → there isn’t und there are not → there aren’t. Tea ist hier nicht zählbar, deshalb heißt es There isn’t tea. Im Alltag ist auch There isn’t any tea sehr üblich. Plates ist Plural: There aren’t any plates. Ein einzelner Gegenstand braucht den unbestimmten Artikel: There isn’t a table.
